USA College Tennis is made up of three associations, which aspiring athletes can compete in; the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association (NJCAA) and lastly the National Athletic Intercollegiate Association (NAIA).
Tennis is one of the biggest and most commonly played sports at college level. The NCAA alone has 938 different women’s university teams, while the men have 769. With such high numbers, your chances of receiving a tennis scholarship are high. Academics play an important role when it comes to college tennis. Your Grade Point Average (GPA) will need to be between a 3.5 out of 4.0 to get the most scholarship funding available. If you are an international student, you should look to maintaining an academic average of 75% to reach this GPA requirement. You will also need to score well on the SAT examination.
